Biocide Control

Identify the bacteria that compromise the integrity of your assets. At TECNA ICE, we perform specialized microbiological analyses to detect microorganism-induced corrosion (MIC), allowing you to adjust your biocide treatment programs and prevent severe localized failures.

Description

Biological Threat Assessment: At TECNA ICE, we combine microbiology with integrity engineering to eliminate silent corrosion caused by bacteria in critical industrial systems.

Service Description

Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC) is responsible for a large proportion of premature failures in the hydrocarbon industry, water systems, and process plants. Unlike galvanic or chemical corrosion, MIC causes deep and rapid pitting beneath bacterial colonies (biofilms). Our Microbiological Analysis service uses state-of-the-art techniques to identify and quantify populations of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), acid-producing bacteria (APB), and ferrooxidizing bacteria. By integrating this diagnostic service with our Internal Corrosion Monitoring program, we provide the technical evidence needed to validate whether your mechanical cleaning (pigging) and chemical disinfection strategy is truly effective.

Laboratory Capabilities

  • Count of sessile and planktonic bacteria.
  • Sow seeds in specific growing media (NACE).
  • Qualitative and quantitative detection of SRB/APB.
  • Identification of biofilm formation.

Integrity Monitoring

  • Microbiological analysis of corrosion coupons.
  • Evaluation of the Efficacy of Biocides.
  • Diagnosis of Pitting Failures.
  • Design of MIC Mitigation Protocols.

Technical Consulting on Microbiological Control

TECNA ICE transforms a bacteriological report into an engineering action plan. We understand that MIC cannot be solved with chemicals alone; it requires a deep understanding of the flow, temperature, and nutrients in the system. Our specialized consulting services help determine the optimal dosages of biocides, the frequency of mechanical cleaning, and the selection of resistant materials, ensuring that your infrastructure is protected against biological attack and complies with international standards for mechanical integrity.
